What's Going On?

Malaysians...

I was queuing up at the monorail station the other day when suddenly this fella rushed up behind me and delibrately cut my line. Oh alright...in KL these days. There isn't actualy a 'line' for everyone to queue up. People here in KL are super friendly and tend to get very close.

Too close in fact.

People just squeeze together around the train entrance to form a sort Rojak bowl of bodies. There's practically everything! Chinese! Indians! Malays! Foreigners! Tall! Short!

Everything!

Yeah

We're one big family.

Malaysia Boleh.

*In fact while i'm typing this out while waiting for the next train to come, people have just pushed themselves in front of me and countless people cut my line*

(Oh, if you are wondering. Yes, i'm writing this on my pda while waiting for the train)

Yeah, some of you may suggest that i'm too kind and not aggressive enough by letting 'these' people cutting in front of me. The advice most people give me is that I be on my toes and do what pregnant ladies who are about to give birth do best : pushing like there's no tomorrow.

However by doing that, it would make me on of 'these' people and then causes a chain reaction creating more of 'these' people. The vampire of bad habits for Malaysians at work eh?

Plan 1 : Failed!

Oh! The next train is here. Lets see what happens.

Ok. I've once again failed to get in.

Hmmm..

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

We're supposed to stay behind the yellow line right?

Unfortunately this yellow line's sole purpose is be some grafitti to decorate the floor.

Swt!!

It's not that I'm angry with people cutting my line.

It's just that I feel people here gotta learn how to be more considerate towards others.

Much much Muchhh More considerate.

Kinda sad watching what happens.

Ok, let me paint you a better picture on what happens in a typical train station in KL :

Even before the train arrives, everyone crowds around the entrance of the train.

Then they block anyone who wants to come out by rushing in like mad bulls.

Hence these people clog up the entrance.

Then the people who actually want to go out has to push like crazy to get out.

And of course the people inside will want to stand near the entrance of the train because its easier to get out. Leaving the inside of the train empty.

Sort of like Mc Donald's McFlurry Ice cream : Lots of ice-cream on the outside, empty inside.

Later on, people outside will try to (again) push their way in while the guards outside blow their whistle trying to help them help themselves.

Its crazy I tell you.

I’ll just stand back and watch.

Where have we gone wrong?

People getting insulted for buying original DVDs. People cutting line without feeling guilty.

And don't even get me started on who people drive and the customer service here.

Is our education system really doing what its supposed to do?

Are we really going backwards?

Think about it.

Oh well, common sense isn't actually common here.

When You Thought You Couldn't be Zhar-ed Anymore.

You know how nowadays when you read the newspaper, all you see is war, fights, rape cases, robbery and more war?

Well, I think the New Straits Times is running out of things to right about. So they came out with this article which is either mind-blowingly brilliant or just plain incredibly stupid .

I seriously don't know.

You be the judge.

Enjoy!!

Article found in the New Straits Times (19 October 2006) :

Man Caught Buying Original DVD.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

It was a moment of madness that he will live to regret for a long time. When Thaddeus Boo stepped out of his office on his lunch-break last week, little did he realize that his colleague would spot him buying an original DVD. Now nobody will let him hear the end of it.

( *Swt* Regret for LIFE? Huh? What is there to regret? Trust reporters to 'spice things up' )

The furniture salesman was spotted by his co-worker Ratna Mutu Manikam as he stepped into a Speedy store and emerged a few moments later with a wrapped DVD of a Korean war blockbuster that he had purchased for RM 49.90.

'I was so shocked that I made sure to take a picture on my mobile phone to use as evidence,' says Ratna, who then shared the picture with everyone at the office. 'What sort of idiot would buy an original DVD?'

(Huhhh ????Gee..I wonder who's the idiot. He's doing the right thing by buying original DVD. Ever wonder why our music and movie industry isn't growing fast enough? Its because of people buying pirated CDs and DVDs.)

Sure enough, Boo's other colleagues at Kedai Perabot Tegak Maju expressed shock and bafflement. 'I have worked with him for five years and I never suspected he would do such a thing,' says the cashier at the furniture shop. 'Didn’t he realize that there are stores selling pirated DVDs of the same film for RM10, or RM8. If you don’t want the box, just minutes away from where he wasted his money?'

(I quote : 'I have worked with him for five years and I never suspected he would do such a thing' WTFish? You say it as if he did something bad like raping someone or committed adultery. He only bought original DVDs. He is helping the industry grow.Without growth, our dear directors, actors and musicians would just have to go to the street and sell Char Kuey Tiao.)

Boo’s boss said that the purchase raised disturbing questions. 'If he can’t tell the difference between RM49.90 and RM10, how can he be a good salesman?' And if he has such minority tastes that sets him apart from the Malaysian public, how can he sell furniture items to the teeming masses?

(Dude..Buying pirated DVD is ILLEGAL! You get? ILLEGAL! Do you want your staff selling ILLEGAL stuff to customers? I rather people do things the right and LEGAL way rather than getting into some sort of trouble doing ILLEGAL stuff. It just shows that your staff respects the law by buying LEGAL stuff. Isn't that one of the quality you would want in a staff? *swt* )

The receptionist also shook her head in dismay. 'We never thought he would do such a thing. But he should be helped rather than condemned. After all, let's face it we have all been tempted at one time or another to purchase original DVDs, but a voice inside as always says. 'No! Don't be chump!' We just need to cultivate that voice.

(Got seriously nothing to say…..even the RECEPTIONIST is involved in this mess.)

She adds that Tegak Maju employees have since been placing the calling cards of reputable DVD pirates at Boo’s desk. 'Knowledge is the first step to overcoming this unnatural addiction of him.'

(Well I think it should be the other way round. BOO should put some reading materials such as educational magazines, newspapers, school textbooks or even encyclopedias at THEIR desks to educate them a bit. And I don't think his habit is unnatural at all.)

Boo, when pressed for an explanation, was at a loss for words

(Well I would be too! Who in the world comes knocking at your door wanting to write an article about you doing something so innocent such as buying an ORIGINAL DVD?Goshhh…Be prepared. Next time there will be newspaper reporters rushing at you gunning you down with stupid questions at a Char Kuey Tiao stall asking you bought such an expensive dish when Char Kuey Tiao can be made at home at a fraction of the price paid. )

Then finally he said :'It will never happen again.: Then he changed the subject : 'Do you want to look at some chairs? Come over here. If they don’t work come back tomorrow, I will change for you.'

(There you have it. They all managed to persuade him to 'Do the right thing'. Simply Crap-tastc)

What in the world is going on here? I was expecting the title of the article to be 'Man caught buying PIRATED DVDs' and not 'Man caught buying ORIGINAL DVDs'

Has buying illegal stuff becoming such a norm in Malaysia? How can we let this go on.?

I feel this man should be respected for being able to resist the temptation of buying pirated DVDs instead of being insulted for his 'stupidity' of buying original DVDs. And with all the name cards of 'reputable' pirated DVD dealers on his desk, it would be even harder for him to do what's right now.

And also, doesn't the NST have other better things to report about? I mean there must be millions of news out there just waiting to be printed out, and they had to report about a innocent guy doing nothing wrong.

So what's next? Are they going to come and write a report of me buying original stuff? Huh?

Just imagine the conversation.

*I walk out of a authorized NIKE shop with a plastic bag of original NIKE shirts*

Random Dude : *Points at me* Waaaaaaaaa…What is that??Let me see..Let me see. What the??? Its *gasp* original NIKE shirts!!!!!

*Conversation ends*

Of Bacons and Ham.

Sorry for the lack of updates.

I've been so tired from work lately. Normally I would reach home around 7.00am, have my dinner, shower, watch some anime then Poof!! I fall asleep.

But don't worry, I'll try to update my blog as much as I can.

Anyways, I went to listen to some music at the Concorde Hotel after work yesterday. Unfortunately, the one-man-band guitar player Mark Renesh had finished his shift by the time I got there so I was stuck listening to some phillipino bands.

Then my dad told me something really funny that happened the other time he was here.

As usual, the band finished their songs, and one of the phillipino lady singer came down and approached my dad.

The conversation went something like this :

Dad : Hi, I'm Mr Hum.
Lady : Ohhhh.. Mr Hum.... My name is Barken....

At first he thought that Barken was a pretty odd name EVEN for a phillipino to have.

Anyways, she went away, and left my dad sitting there thinking.

*Thinks*
*Thinks*
*Thinks*

Then after a while, it struck him!

Barken = Bacon!!!

Why?

Coz she probably thought my dad was joking with her, calling himself a Ham (actually its Mr HUM)

So, she was trying hard to crack a joke calling herself a Barken a.k.a Bacon!!

Bacon and hams..What a pair!!

LOL

So Zharr Dou...

Haze Craze.

Grr..

Our annual Haze festival is back again!

Woot!!

*Grabs mask*

But this time, it clashes with our moon cake festival!

Double the celebration; Double the air polution!

And if you're wondering, Yes, I'm sick again. (Kesian kesian kesian)

Well, its not my fault my nose is so sensitive.

Of course, there's no better way to celebrate the haze in KL than putting up lanterns everywhere to create more smoke.

Grrr.

Seriously, something has to be done about this condition. It seems to be getting worse as the years go by.

One day, Malaysian's would just have to abandon their country for a few weeks when the haze comes because the air polution here would be so bad, that its un-live-able for any human.

Either we do something about our air condition,

Or,

We grow some gills.

Oh wait, thats for living in water.

Grrr...

Sick...

Nike

Nike, the super expensive brand with such a simple logo. Who knew a simple "Tick" would turn into one of the world's most famous logo.

People would pay almost anything to have the words "Just Do It" on their shoes, shirts, shorts, socks, etc etc.

So, being so popular, there's bound to be some lousy imitation a.k.a Fake brands

Here's, my collection of NIKE logos,

Meet the Fakers!!!!

You know how NIKE has the slogan "Just Do It"?

Well apparently MIKE has been there, done that already.

So here's

MIKE, Have Done It! (Foo Sheng told me about this one) (Zhar Dou....)

Here's the new terrorist group's logo, for a very commercialised terrorst gang

AL-NIKE, Jom Kita Buat!

And of course my NIKE logo collection wouldn't be complete without our very cool, Jamaican

NIKE, Yo Man, Just Do It.

Not to mention our very own, 100% Buatan Malaysia,

NIKE-Lah, Tak Boleh Buat (Translation, NIKE, Cannot Do)

Aren't I patriotic?
Nah..Just kidding.

Nice or not?? It took me quite some time to create all these logos. Hehe.

And here's Jo-Shua's Top 3 ways to know that you've bought a Fake NIKE product thinking it was real.

3) The price is 70% the original product.

2) The right side and left side of your NIKE shoes are sold separately.

1) Your NIKE shirt has a NIKE logo on the front, but an ADIDAS Logo on the back.

I hope this helps.
