The DaVinci Code

The DaVinci code, the movie that has so many twists in the plot that it makes the Twister look like some seaside breeze.

Warning, Spoilers Ahead! Don't read it if you don't want to be spoiled!

Oh What the heck?? Who hasn't been spoiled anyway? I can bet you that even those roti canai sellers know about the plot.

(Ok, I may be exagerating a lil' )

And here's the link to something funny, (Just in case you have not seen it)

http://syfc.org.sg/events/dvc/cinema.html

Before the movie, Kuan Kit passed me my movie ticket with this voucher attached to it : Wow! A RM 50 voucher for a RM 8 movie ticket? How in the world do these people survive?

Well, apparently, THIS is how:
And this,

Oh Boy, what a deal! RM 50 voucher for a RM6K watch!

At first, I didn't want to watch the movie because it has some controversial issues concerning the foundations of the church and basically christianity. But then Yih Hon reminded me that it our duty as good christians to at least know or watch the movie or read the book so that we will be equipped with enough knowledge to tackle any questions asked by non-christians concerning the church.

So, the show basically TRIES to follow the book closely. Some people told me that the movie is on the slow side but I thought the pace was not as bad as what people have said. This movie is about puzzle-solving and cracking codes and not some kind of action movie so the pace of the movie is forgivable. But I did like the added Hollywood special effects here and there.

The thing I didn't like about the show was Tom Hanks acting. He got this forever-bored look throughout the entire movie! I thought he could have done a much better job considering how well he did in "The Terminal". A little more facial expression could have gone a long way. I mean, practically the whole of France + the police was after him, and he could still look so calm and collected. I feel as if I'm looking at some cyborg acting as Robert (Ok, maybe that's a bit too harsh)

Sophie Neveu (yay!) on the other hand didn't really help Robert much in this movie. She was potreyed as more smarter person in the book. But all she does stand there and look pretty.

Oh wait a minute, isn't that what girls are meant for? to stand there and look pretty?

(Aww, I'm so gonna get beaten up after this entry)

Come on! She's supposed to be a genius at cracking codes and solving puzzles.

And another thing I found out while watching the movie is that the Priory of Sion is actually the Priory of Scion in Malay. Malay subtitles in cinemas are always so entertaining!

But probably not as entertaining as the translation for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - Harry Potter dan Gelas Berapi. And also Star Wars III : Revenge of the Sith - Star Wars III : Balas Dendam Sith.

Ok, so my rating is :

For people who have NOT read the book :One and a half thumb up!

For people who have read the book : One Thumb up!

And of course, everything in the movie/book is not real. Don't belive me? Go to MPH and look for the book and check which section is it in. The "Fiction" section? You got that right!

So what I've learnt from this movie is that some movies can be decievingly entertaining.

P.S : Sophie's Driving = Ownage!!!
