Leap of deat-----aaaahh--I mean Faith!!

Ok, so here's the deal.

The other day, me and one of my fellow part time colleague in Standard Chartered (SCB) were having this big discussion on whether of not a person would die if that person jumped out of the 8th floor of Menara Standard Chartard (MSC).

I said that that person would certainly die if he jumped out of the building. Obviously, my colleague thought otherwise.

So, I suggested that I set up a poll on my blog to see what other people online would say. She agreed to let me do so.

Which brings me to my entry today,

Have you ever seen MSC before?

Well here it is. And thats probably where the 8th floor of MSC is.

The identity of my fellow part time colleague shall of course remain anonymous. But I can tell you what's NOT her identity. That is her name DOESN'T start with the letter "-C" and ends with the letter "-hua Hui Xia" who also DOESN'T have a twin sister who studied in the same college *cough* HELP University College *cough* as me. And also DOESN'T stay in Damansara Utama because its too "far" away from office eventhough you can take a Putra LRT all the from KLCC to Kelana Jaya everyday.

Nonono..

*Shakes Head*

Her Identity shall remain a secret.

*Nods Head*

Haha..Nolah..I got her permission liao..so its ok.

I'm saying that you'd die if you jumped out of the 5th floor, let alone the 8th floor. That is unless you have shock aborbers as big as trees strapped all over your body or unless the ground is made out of pillows. Otherwise, jumping out of the 8th floor would probably just give you a crap-tastic view of Menara Standard Chartered and you would get to feel the wonderful sensation of being as free as a heavy stone being thrown out of the 8th floor.

On the other hand, there are some cases where people jump out of tall buildings and still survive (Leaving them with more broken bones than healthy ones). But heck, they are still alive. Probably you'd have a higher chance of surviving if you know the right way to land without injuring your head, neck, heart etc...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Ok, so back to the poll. The qustion is that whether a person the jumps ( Jump, mind you, not fall. Both are different. Jump = jumping out intentionally , knowing the risks and probably knowing how to landing. Fall = Unintetionally falling out of the building by what is commonly known as an accident, inevitably leading you to meet your maker before your time.) out of the 8th floor and dies on the spot. Not die after you reach the ground because of severe loss of blood. And certainly not die because the ambulance doesn't reach the hospital in time because of the KL traffic jams. You get?

And as science students, its better to standardise and clarify some stuff so that our "simulation" would be more "accurate". The person is only wearing normal everyday clothes, not some big shiny armour or have pillows tied up all around him. The person will land on all fours (or in the safest way possible). The ground is the normal concrete ground, not some ground made out of feathers as soft as clouds. The person doesn't have a parachute, bungee chord, wings, or anything that can make him float down slowly like an angel descending from heaven. The person will not miraculously get caught in a clothes line (Like in cartoons). And lastly, NO, the trees and shrubs at the bottom will not cushion that persons fall.

Its just, the person, the ground, and good ol' Gravitiy.

Football At Last.

Sorry for not coming for football last Saturday!!! I really wanted to come, but I was too tired from work, too injured (from basketball the night before), and too comfy in my nice warm bed.

For that, I shall blog about our football outing the week before.

Ok, so we finally decided to meet up for some ex-5sc1-desarians football game in the field.

It was pretty much 5sc1 gang versus,

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

"The Field" *Chang chang changgg*

Our former Sahara Desert field (only desarians will know about this one) has grown so much grass since the last time I played football there.

But along with the grass came unwanted ,irrating and downright frustrating little hills barely 5cm tall which were made out of soil everyfriggin'where that made playing in the field a bit hazardous, difficult.

Crap-tastic!

Haha..I'm just exagerating, it wasn't acutally that bad. Uncomfortable maybe, but definately not unplayable.

The game went pretty well considering how long since we last played football.

However, there was this particular goal that just hilarious.

The ball was coming at the goal-keeper. (Hehe, I decided to use microsoft paint to do this one. Too lazy to make a nicer one. Oh well, use your imagination)

It wasn't going that fast and it was going straight at the keeper. So everyone thought it would be a save.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

As the ball approaches the keeper, the pressure and tension increased imensely each passing minute .

(There I go exagerating stuff again. lol...)

All eyes where on the ball. (Football, mind you. Stop being dirty!)

Sweat drops formed on the keepers forehead as the existing ones slowly drip down the cheeks of a very tensed keeper.

His eyes were fixed on the ball, trying not to be overwhelmed by the whole situation.

Hearbeats rose, eyebrows raised, breathes held.

The ball approached the keeper.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This was it,

Man againts Ball.

The ball was just inches away from the keepers hands.

And then,

BUMP!!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

It hit a unnoticed bump, and bounced up-up and over the rainbow, keepers head.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

And straight into the goal!!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

LOL!!!

It was so funny when it happened. Everyone really expected the keeper to save it.

Haha, anyways, we finished our game and went to our favourite Pan mee stall in Taman Desa.

The Pan Mee there is still so nice! Aaaa...Brings back memories of my Taman Desa years.

Then me, Khai Shang, Kim Yang, CK and Juin Kit went to MMORPG. Played 2 rounds of DoTA there.

Decided to have lunch at DDP Food Court.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Then later on, we went back to the basketball court for another round of bball!! *Roar*

Yih Hon came later and we played a quick 2 on 2.

But unfortunately, we were interrupted by rain.

Haihh.

What to do?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The 4 of us sat down in the nearby pondok, chatting away. We had a really great time discussing about our government, politics, corruption, college etc etc. Was fun catching up with ol' schoolmates.

By everning, the rain finally stopped and we went to my favourite burger stall and grab ourselve some pre-dinner.

Anyways, had a great day. Hopefully there will be more football matches in the future.

Food!!!

My newfound hobby :

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Arranging the food in my office drawer!

You'll never go hungry working in Standard Chatered Bank.

Almost everyday, someone from my row in my department will bring something new for everyone to share.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Be it the special super yummy eggtarts from Jalan Imbi. (Its seriously nice!! Imagine cheese + egg in the centre..MmmmMMmmm)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Or the even more delicous pandan roll my boss bought.

I also got to taste one of the nicest mooncakes from some hotel, and also the famous Him Heang Tau Sah Pao all the way from Penang (Though I think you can get it here too.)

Because I'm the only guy in my row, I've been unofficially elected as the DBKL of SCB. Its always, "Jo-Shua, cannot finish la..Have some please... *Hands me some KFC Popcorn Chicken (Still half full) * "

Today, I even got some Gin Seng sweets from Korea!!

But then,

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

*Gasps*

Whats this????

My office drawer emtpy????

Never fear!!

7-11 is just a stone's throw away!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Lalala!!! *Skips back to office*

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Tadah!!!

Refilled. Ready to be eaten anytime!

They are at my appetite's mercy!

*Looks in plastic bag*

What? There's more?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This goes in my bottom office drawer.

*Evil Laugh*

Life is good,

When there's an unlimited supply of food in your office drawer.

(Yih Hon! You can stop drooling now.. I know you are.)

One In A Million!!

After a very last minute decision, a frantic rush back home in the rain, followed by an equally mad rush in a heavier rain to Shah Alam, witnessing the aftermath of 5 car accidents while getting stuck in a insanely horrible traffic jam on the way there, and having a constant stressed out feeling because we were afraid that we won't make it to a place I have almost no idea where it is , we finally was able to arrive at Sri Pentas 2, Plaza Alam Sentral with my head still attached to my body and with 10 minutes to spare.

Yeap!!

We (Me and sis) went all the way to Shah Alam to watch "One In A Million" LIVE from Sri Pentas 2.

Don't know what's "One In A Million"?

Dude..

You really need to sit in front of the idiot box a.k.a TV and watch it more often.

Anyways, its a copycat-sorta Malaysian version of the famous "American Idol" which is bound to give you more shocks than a capacitor charged up to 1 million volt can.

Left office at 6.30 pm, reached home at 7.10 pm, left home at 7.40 pm and reached there at 9.20pm JUST IN TIME for the show at 9.30pm.

The show started with the host and hostess introducing the 2 judges, which was one beautiful malay lady (Sorry I forgot her name) as well as Paul flowerless-plant-growing-in-dense-clusters-on-the surface-of-the-ground a.k.a Paul MOSS!

(If you didn't get the joke , Moss = flowerless plant...bla bla bla)

Well, frankly speaking, I found the stage and the whole set much smaller than what is shown on TV. Which means that these people have a very good team to make everything look nice on TV. (Eh, I mean it in a good way ok? Don't misunderstand me.)

Then, the show went to the part where they kick out someone from the show.

And this week,

Dayang, the show's favourite, got the least votes and was freed from Paul Moss's vicous comments.

And then there were 3.

Alif, Faizal and Suki.

Faizal started the show with one of my favourite song by Remy - Save Me, the opening song for Smallville. The singing was ok; not too bad; that was until he reached the chorus where things started to get a bit messy. The end was a bit boring because he was singing the same thing over and over again.

Then came a commercial break and was followed by ALIF!! My sis's classmate for Sri Hartamas!!!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

He sang a BackStreet Boys song, I think it is called " the call" or " the calling".

The performence itself was not really at the level where he would be considered a good singer. But I guess he was able to capture the audience with his on-stage dance sorta movements thingy. Then it was Suki's turn.

All dressed in black, she sang her first song "Losing Grip" by Avril Lavigne.

Didn't really feel this one.

No "Ling - Gam"

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

My Sis.

Then came another commercial break.

Then it was Faizal's turn to sing again. This time, he sang some malay song which was much better than his first.

Alif's turn was next, where he again sang another malay song which I found kinda slow and boring. But it did show off his voice....so.....It was a much better choice than his first song.

Lastly, Suki ended the show with a Malay song by Siti Nurhaliza (I think ).

Well, it was probably the best performence of the show that day. She really got the audience moving.

Then the show finally ended.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

We quickly made our way back to our car and drove back home.

Of course before we did that, we did some cam-whoring in the car.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Hahaha..Actually, I'm not a big fan of the show. But it was still a great experience considering we haven't been to shows like these.

Opps, forgot to mention that the music at the place there was really great. This is what you get from a professonal band playing live! I really enjoyed the music (Not the singing sometimes though) throughout the show!

Happy!

Good stuff have been pouring in like rain these few days!

Its like the monsoon season for everything good!

Haha.

Aaaaa....The good ol' days ..

*Grabs an old pipe, lights it up and puff out smoke while sitting on a rocking chair near the fireplace while stroking me ol' white beard with a fat ol' cat purring in the background*

LOL!

I'm not that old yet!!!!

Anyways, been recieving good news after good news alot.

Firstly, I got my first pay check!!!

Well, it isn't actually a pay check sort of pay check.

Oh what the heck! The banked in my money!!

Then I saw this in the newspaper :

I've changed my mind... JPA Rocks!! Haha

They doubled the allowence they are gonna give scholars who study in New Zealand! No more milking cows for extra money for me!

RM 3k a month? That even more than I'm earning right now.

And then I recieved an SMS from my music teacher saying that I passed my music exam!!

Woot!

But sadly, my old phillips earphones sang its last song and then totally kong-ed out the same day.

A moment of silence please.

*Moment ends*

Woohoo!!!!Now I've got the perfect excuse to go buy myself a new set of earphones!!! *Runs to Low Yat*

Introducing :

New earphones

Nice lehh...

And its black..So Sexy!

Fits my ears perfectly!

The bass coming out of this earphones is just how I like it. My only complain is that it gives a much more warmer tone compared to the crisp sounds I'm used to. Oh well, my ears will just have to get used to em'.

Anyways, my boss was on leave today!!

Had a 2 hour break instead of my usual one (Of coures I made sure I finished all my work , asked my boss's boss and put down 2 hours break in my timeslip first)

Went to Sungai Wang to have lunch with Jo-Anne and her classmates. Pretty funny people! Lame jokes there was..Haha..Had a blast there.

Then I recieved a call saying that my Darling Dopod 818 pro was fixed!!

Went to Low Yat to collect my Dopod and went back to "work".

Since my boss wasn't around, there was nothing much to do.

So I went surfing and read everyone's blog from work till 6 pm.

And rushed home after work.

Played DoTA and defeated the other team in just 25 minutes (For those who don't play DoTA, thats quite fast... A normal game would last about an hour or so)

Yup. Life's been treating me extra well these few days.

Hey Hey Hey!!!

Guess who's in the newspaper again today?

Yup!!!

Thats right!!!

The HELP A-Levels results Ad is out in the New Straits Times again.

This time they corrected the error and had my name in bold.

And also noted that I have a scholarship to study in New Zealand.

Aint that cool?Go and buy your copy of NST today, look for the ad, spray some smelly stuff to make the paper last longer, carefully frame it up with some expensive frame, place it on your side table right next to your bed and look at it everytime before you sleep, right after you wake up, while your studying EVERYDAY .

Now!!!

Nahhhh..Just kidding..

Don't actually go and do that.

*Please excuse my hyper-ness today*

Oh Crap..Its that time again.

lt's that time of the year again.

Yeah. I'm turning 19 by the 7th of September.

The last of my teen years.

It feel like it was just yesterday I was celebrating my 18th birthday.

Time flies...

Well, I think this is the perfect time to look back at what has happened in my life throughout the year.

Anyways , here's a special edition of :

When I was 18....

December 2005 was quite a month . With my A-levels exam coming up in january I wasn't sure whether to stay back and study or go for a camp i've been wanting to go .

But in the end, I decided that I had enough of studying and signed up for :

HUGE Camp 2006

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Hmm..Lets play Spot-the-Jo-Shua. Can you find me in that photo?

I didn't regret going for this camp at all. Everyone was trully blessed by what happened throughout the camp. The whole experience was powerful and very encouraging.

And with Yih Hon coming with us this year, we had non-stop laughing spree for 4 days straight.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

We met alot of cool people and did our usual crazy stuff in small town Melaka.

February :

Well. February was kinda sad..

Jez finally left for Aussie.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Went to KLIA to send her off.

March : The KL International Marathon.

I didn't go for the full marathon (duh...). But it was fun yet challanging joining the 'fun' run.

We (me, yih hon, Keen Wai, Jason, Fu Sheng and friends) had a great time joking and fooling around. Suprisingly all of us managed to finish the run within the time limit. I'm so proud of everyone. Haha

May and June : Exam time !!!

A2 exams! Everyone's in panic mode. Burning they're midnight oil till we couldn't tahan. It was 7 weeks of torture man.

Well actually, June wasn't that bad. There was always World Cup matches to look forward to.

Usually when I study, I would have the TV with the matches on in the background.

The sound of the crowd cheering 22 players + 1 referree chasing 1 football is just so relaxing. Lol

With my exams over, I had to say goodbye to my college life as well as all the friends I've made there.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

For the month of July, there was the Taman Desa Jubilee Perak Dinner.

Finally met up with all my high school friends and teachers. Had a great time hanging out with them.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The 3 posers...(They didn't actually win that TV from the lucky draw...Saja want to pose only..hehe)

August was a busy month for me.

Everything was coming straight at me at one go.

Barely had time to breathe.

First there was the Genting Trip.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Had a great time there. Will post up more photos soon.

Then there was the BTN course.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

And I think everyone knows how that went.

Then my A- Levels results.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

And of course, there was my new job at Standard Chatered Bank (SCB).

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

My Office

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Fortunately there was Yu Xian there to help me out so that I didn't feel that left out at work.

Again, had a great time doing crazy stuff with Isaac, Josh and Yu Xian. Haha..was fun ponteng-ing work with the frequent trips to the pantry and also the toilet.

Sadly, the all had to leave by the end of August becaue their classes starts in September.

Anyways, this whole year was great although there were many big changes in my life.

Oh well, I can't complain..

Sure hope next year will be just as good!
